    is this speech …
is this speech saying TO homeschool or NOT to homeschool?

    I hope …
I hope homeschooling can work up until a certain age, until middle school, then regular school. Adolescents need independence and socialazation, they don’t want to be with their parents all the time. That’s what my parents did for me. I have to say I like public school much better and I don’t get called weird or freak.

That was a very good speech!
I have been homeschooled all my life and I think you made a lot of good points.

    Grades are not all …
Grades are not all that matter in life. There are things that matter more in life…things you can never get from being homeschooled.

    kid I have been …
kid I have been homeschoold. it is the best thing that me family did for me. if you don’t like it, just get over it. I am 17, I have a good job and I am in college, the government is paying for it and I have better “social skills” then the kids from public school. homeschooling is the best thing that you can do for a kid

    Why can you people …
Why can you people not see how terrible homeschooling is?

    You presented your …
You presented your speech so well. I’ve been in public school since kindergarten, but this summer I asked my parents if we could homeschool. (This will be my junior year.) My mom had wanted me to homeschool, but since my mind wasn’t open to it, she didn’t want to force me to do it and not enjoy it. So, when I asked to be homeschooled, after much prayer, she was enthusiastic to say that we could. I loved your speech.

    Having examined the …
Having examined the evidence, and listened to my own common sense, it’s impossible for me to be anything but positive about homeschooling. I hope more parents choose this path.

    In 2007, Huckabee …
In 2007, Huckabee was the Keynote speaker for the far-left NEA’s national conference. The NEA opposes private schools and homeschooling while advocating for a federalized curriculum. While governor of Arkansas, Huckabee repealed parts of the Arkansas Homeschoolers Rights Act signed into law by Clinton. This made Arkansas the most hostile state to homeschoolers in the south.

    Hi, I live in …
Hi, I live in Britain and am currently investigating homeschooling (my oldest is just 2). I just wanted to say I was blown-away by this presentation, not so much the content but the young man delivering it. What an absolute credit to his parents and the homeschooling system.

    Here AGAIN !! sp. …
Here AGAIN !! sp. opinion – there are more spelling errors !!

HOW do you figure “economic suicide” ??

  15. by therb1006, on December 6 2009 @ 4:52 am

    Your spelling ALONE …
Your spelling ALONE … TOTALLY advocates AGAINST public schools !!

  16. by jdrake90, on December 6 2009 @ 4:52 am

    Why then… do …
Why then… do homeschool students have higher grades (based on SAT and such) and why do colleges accept homeschool students in much larger percentages?

Its REALLY obvious that you’re not from the US.

  17. by lukeus02, on December 6 2009 @ 4:52 am

    well it would be …
well it would be economic suicide, because the only country that would recognize a home school qualification would be…wait NONE, and no i disagree, the parent should not have the right to teach there child creationism as it is a completly riduculous thing, much like teaching a child satan worshiping for example. The child should have an equal chance to succeed in life and to form their own opions on things, this is somthing that would be completely hampered by teaching creationism

  18. by jdrake90, on December 6 2009 @ 4:52 am

    If a parent wants …
If a parent wants to teach creationism, that is a religious right, not an academic flaw. Again, they are the ones who are responsible for the child, and should be allowed to teach their OWN kids whatever they please, as long as they do not condone unlawful behavior (murder… etc.)

  19. by jdrake90, on December 6 2009 @ 4:52 am

    So you’d rather …
So you’d rather have the government decide what to teach your children? What about parents that don’t want the government teaching their kids sex education at an early age? What about parents that want to spend time with their children? Is that a crime? And who made the government the final authority on what should and shouldn’t be taught to YOUR kids. They belong to the parent, NOT the government.

  20. by lukeus02, on December 6 2009 @ 4:52 am

    yes but what about …
yes but what about the freedom of children to have a free and fair education, without their parents bias, and bigotry forced upon them, a key example is the families who teach their children creationism at home be the concept is to reidiculous to be taught in any decent acedemic institution

    I hope you don’t …
I hope you don’t become president;-)

What makes you say that? Isn’t this a free country?

    home schooling, …
home schooling, what a terrifying prospect. hopefully this nut-job idea will soon be outlawed.

    Great speech Jordan …
Great speech Jordan. I look at this and think “what if I had been home schooled”. Where would I be in life. Who would I be. I had always failed at math and excelled in creative writing… Homeschooling would have allowed me to slow down in one subject and accelerated in another. I now have 3 little boys who we will be homeschooled, and it is my goal to be constantly aware of “who they are” in their learning process.

HA… yeah… I have to admit… this is one of the main reasons I don’t go to this church;-)
