Yes, my daughter has expressed an interest in being a chef (yea! no cooking for me one day - (laughter)) so I'm enrolling her in a children's cooking school that begins next month. She'll be making her own spaghetti and is soooo excited. Her little sister is very interested in animals and becoming a veterinarian, so she'll be going to my friend's "mini-farm" to learn about caring for rabbits once a week. Homeschooling is such a great privilege. I just want to make the most of it. Thanks for the feedback and the encouragement. It's nice to know there are other like-minded families out there. :-)

I've done similar things with my children, especially my oldest (now 16). We followed her interests and had her "shadow" some of the people who had careers she was interested in. She also did volunteer work. As a result, she's now working part time at our local library as a page.

Good article. Great ideas.
